cleolinda's entry made me think about what I'm looking for in a guy. Given that I'm slowly tiptoeing into online dating again, it might helpful to put what I want into words.


Nonsmoker: I've never smoked in my life and don't think I ever will. And cold cigarette smoke has got one of the most disgusting smells ever. So, I really don't think I could date a smoker.

Sense of humor: A similar sense of humor is important. I'm easily amused and laugh about pretty much anything. I love dry humor. What I don't like is toilet/gross out humor.

Kindness: I've never been into bad boys. Someone who's kind, nice and treats other people with respect is so much more appealing to me.

Interests: He needs to like music. Not necessarily mine, but something. I couldn't be without music and there's a reason why my iPod is my precious. It would be nice if he shared some other interest of mine, too. With reading, traveling, going to the movies and watching tv, hopefully there's some overlapping interest.

Intelligence: I like a guy who's smart. Doesn't necessarily have to be book smart, but interesting enough to have good conversations with. It also helps if he has a variety of interests and is interested in what's going on in the world.

Physical Attraction: I must be attracted to the guy. That doesn't mean he's got to look like a model. I tend to be into normal looking guys, who are sympathetic and have nice eyes. When I meet a guy the first thing I notice is eyes and the second hands/arms.

Other things: I want a relationship with someone who's nice, but not a pushover. Someone to tell me when I need to stop rambling. No workaholic, and someone who makes me try new things, but not push me into doing things I don't want to.
